FAQ
Common questions.
What's a typical timeline?
Two to ten weeks depending on tier. A Brochure project ships in 2–3 weeks; a Custom Web App can run 6–10 weeks. Every project gets a written timeline in the scope doc before kickoff.
How do payments work?
50% deposit on contract signing, 50% on launch. Invoiced through Bonsai. ACH transfer or credit card via Stripe. Software subscriptions (Squarespace, Stripe, Google Workspace) are always billed directly to you, not absorbed.
What if I want changes after launch?
Two options. The Care plans cover ongoing edits monthly — Care, Care+, or Active. For one-off changes, hourly at $125/hr in 15-minute increments.
Do I own the code and design?
Yes. Full ownership transfers on final payment. You can take the project to any developer or keep it forever. I retain the right to feature the project in my portfolio with your permission.
What platforms do you build on?
Squarespace plus Stripe for most small business sites — easiest for owners to maintain. Custom Next.js (the same stack this site is built on) for projects that need it. We pick the right tool together during scoping, never default to the most expensive option.
Is the discovery call free?
Yes. The first 20-minute call is free, no pitch. If we're a fit, you get a written scope and price within 2 business days. If we're not, I'll tell you and try to point you somewhere better.
What if I'm not in Texas?
Most clients are local but I work remotely. Calls happen on Zoom, projects ship the same way regardless of geography. Local clients get the option of an in-person kickoff if you're nearby.
Will I be able to update content myself?
Yes. Every site I build includes an admin panel or CMS where you can update text, images, and products without calling me. You get a Loom walkthrough at handoff and a one-page how-to doc.
What if you're booked out?
I'll tell you upfront on the first call. Usually I can start within 2–3 weeks of contract signing. If the timeline doesn't match yours, I'll be honest about it.
What if it doesn't work out?
Either side can terminate with 14 days' written notice. You owe for work completed; the deposit is non-refundable past day 14. The contract spells this out clearly before you sign.
